To Pastor or not to Pastor

A mom once called me at church and said, “Could you tell my son not to become a Pastor?”

“That might sound strange coming from me.”

“Well, he respects you.”

“Why should I tell him not to be a Pastor?”

“It’s a hard job and you don’t get paid that much.

….

Later, this was the conversation with her son.

“You shouldn’t become a Pastor.”

“Why?”

“It’s a hard job and you don’t get paid that much.”

“You do it.  It can’t be that hard.”

  1. As a pastor, I do get to the end of the day, know I worked hard that day, but truly cannot find evidenceof that work! Investing in God and people isn’t quantifiable!
